Melissa Madara is an occultist, author, and second-generation diviner based in NYC. Her work and publications explore occult history, herbal formularies, and folk magical customs as inspiration for practitioners today. She hosts rituals, lectures, and divination salons in Brooklyn and beyond, and has published two books of magical recipes through Watkins Press. She is also the curator of Moon Cult, an online education platform and bookshop dedicated to occult history, witchcraft, and the herbal arts. Melissa is in Portland for one short weekend this summer, and is thrilled to offer readings at Hedgerow Herb Co while in town.
Melissa’s divination style is rooted in the belief that the right question can be a key to deeper understanding. Her readings are conversational and exploratory, guiding each question as it leads deeper into the next. She shares details of her analysis in a way that is easy to understand, inviting querents to examine the cards for themselves, which can be chosen from a small selection of art decks.
