Herbal Actions: stomachic, aperient, laxative, diuretic

Medicinal Uses: The root of dandelion is a gentle liver cleanser, helping to gently support movement of an otherwise congested liver. It is great with burdock in this case. Dandelion strengthens the functions of nearly every internal organ: liver, spleen, stomach, pancreas, and kidneys, as well as the nervous system, digestive system, circulatory system, lymphatic system, glandular system, and urinary system. As a bitter herb, dandelion stimulates the apatite while giving you a hearty dose of minerals.

Dandelion can help clean up your system in the case of cancer, swollen lymph and glands, Epstein Bar virus aka mononucleosis. Like its friend Burdock Root, Dandelion helps balance blood sugar and is great for those who might be on the track to diabetes. Along with a proper diet, dandelion root may help lower blood pressure and elevated cholesterol levels.

Add dandelion root to your pre-menstrual formulas for swollen breasts and breast tenderness, as well as pre-menstrual bloating.

The leaf of dandelion is particularly effective in cases kidney stones, bladder disease, and urinary stones. Dandelion leaf supports digestion by increasing hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
