Join dear friend of Hedgerow Herb Co. Marisa Rutto for an evening of weaving with willow. In this class we will be learning to weave a zarzo tray made from willow tended and harvested by Marisa. These versatile trays, woven in the style of Danish gardener and weaver Ulla Misser, are wonderful for drying your freshly harvested herbs, holding the fruits of your foraging or grocery harvests on your counter top, or keeping your in-process craft project all in one place.
The zarzo tray is a simple beginner willow project, making this class a wonderful opportunity for those who have not yet worked with weaving willow, or those who want to practice the skill in circle with others.
Your ticket includes:
+ hands on instruction
+ finished tray crafted by your hands

Please bring:
+ hand pruners

Marisa is a basket weaver, seamstress, hide tanner and a person of many skills. She has studied the craft of basket weaving under Margret Matthewson. Marisa is passionate about bringing old traditions new life as a way of divesting from the overculture. She has studied the ways of folk medicine and folk magic, bringing an animist worldview to her craft work. When she is not weaving, mending, or making, she may be singing in the woods she resides in off grid, harvesting plants, building relationships and experiencing the fullness of what it means to be alive.
